19 year old Mikael Loyd is accused of strangling his 19 year old girlfriend last August and dragging her body into a newly dug grave near 42nd and L Street.
A judge on Thursday ruled that Loyd is not competent to stand trial. He will be sent to the Regional Center in Lincoln to be treated until he is found competent to stand trial. His attorney says it could take several months for that process to happen.
Doctors for the defense and prosecution evaluated Loyd and found him to be incompetent. Prior to the murder of Melissa Rodriguez, Loyd had checked into the Lasting Hope Recovery Center. A warrant had been issued for his arrest on an earlier assault of Rodriguez.
