1 In 3 OPS Students Speaks Another Language At Home

One in three students in Omaha Public Schools speaks a language besides English when they're at home.

An OPS study being presented today shows seven-thousand students or 14-percent of K-12 district students take part in the English as a Second Language program.

Officials say the number of English-language learners in the district is growing because there are more Hispanic people moving to the city, which is a popular place for refugees to settle.
