Joe Diffie is making a comeback of sorts.  The country star has released "Girl Ridin' Shotgun," his first single in nearly ten years, under a new record deal.  Joe credits his return to Jason Aldean's tribute single "1994," telling Billboard.com the hit sparked a renewed interest in his career.

But Diffie says he hadn't really gone away.  He explains that he never stopped touring or writing songs, but since 2004's "Tougher Than Nails" he's issued a best-of set and a bluegrass album and had been having a lot of fun.

He adds that he's been writing songs with a number of new artists, including Tyler Farr, Tate Stevens, Brett Eldredge, and Josh Thompson, while "Girl Ridin' Shotgun" is a collaboration with the hick-hop group Jawga Boyz.

Diffie says he's also working on an album for his new label, which will likely include "Girl Ridin' Shotgun."
